Allegedly, horror movies that hint at evil but never show it are the most terrifying. This concept is offered by "liminal space" – a state of transition that can be both physical and metaphorical. It often conveys a sense of nostalgia and familiarity, but also ambiguity and uncertainty. In this rendered image series, I explore how to create such a dual-sided feeling. With the liminal pools, I use 3D to replicate the sensation of a surreal dream, as dreaming is the most uncertain transitional state we can experience.
